Hilda B. Kehr (1897-1992) was the inspiration for the InforMedix Med-eMonitor System. The youngest of
ten children, and a woman who possessed a keen intellect, a strong work ethic and a sharp sense of
humor, Hilda was a fiercely independent woman who “scandalized” the family in the 1920s by driving a
car and teaching. She later became a controller of a manufacturing company. Hilda lived a full and
active life for most of her 94 years, and she was nationally honored for her lifelong work with the
blind in and around Philadelphia, Pa., creating a Braille version of a physical chemistry textbook
that now is located in the Library of Congress.
Later in life, Hilda suffered two small strokes. As a result, she had difficulty managing her medications, which resulted in multiple hospitalizations. Worse yet from Hilda’s perspective, this vicious cycle of otherwise unnecessary medical interventions resulted in feelings of frustration and helplessness, and the loss of her highly valued independence.
Hilda’s desire and efforts to lead an independent life inspired a vision of patient-empowerment through technology. It was her loving grandson, a physician and inventor, and a noted authority on medication adherence, who founded InforMedix Holdings, Inc. with the express purpose of realizing this vision of personal independence, and seeking to make it available in millions of homes throughout the world.
The InforMedix Vision is about empowering those whom we love to remain safe, independent and free, while living with chronic illness. Over time, and through a series of inventions, patents and technology innovations, the Med-eMonitor System was conceived and developed. Today it is available to you and your loved ones.
We believe that Hilda is proud to have inspired our Vision.
